Vol XXVI: — Talons and Tensions

Talons and Tensions

Dated: 11 February 2026

Greetings, dear listeners of the realm,

Your humble scribe returns, quill sharpened and ears pressed firmly to the cobblestones.

Talons and Tensions: The Eagle Tournament Unfolds

The Eagle Tournament is well underway. Before it kicked off, there was some chatter from a notable resident, Stukahh. He stated, and I quote, “If anyone tries any BS tournament stuff in Tallimar you will pay.” He also remarked that “H? is like a rotting corpse… just taking up space.”

Curious imagery, considering H? currently boasts over 17 days of occupation time — remarkably lively for a corpse.

At the writing of this article, the leaders stand as follows:

1st — SMA with 179 days occupation time
2nd — SkB with 141 days occupation time
3rd — YARR! with 118 days occupation time
4th — Roads with 87 days occupation time
5th — TDF with 43 days occupation time

Other notable mentions include Laugh, CLAN, H?, Ridle, mCrow, with HOG and Dlord close behind mCrow in the 10th position.

The deadliest squares thus far:

  • Laoshin – over 4.2 million casualties
  • Taomist – over 4 million casualties
  • Puchuallpa – over 3.5 million casualties
  • Ursor – over 2.6 million casualties
  • Rill Archipelago – over 2.4 million casualties

The eagles circle. The bodies fall. The scoreboard climbs ever higher.

Quest at Long Last: HoC Concludes

On the HoC (Audrey) front… the quest has been solved. Oh, happy days indeed.

Jah declared in the forums, “Chill finished the quest cause we are the best.” Truly it cannot be denied that Chill certainly played a significant role, and for that, the realm offers its thanks. It was a massive coordinated effort spanning years, and this writer is personally delighted to see it completed.

Of course, no victory comes without discourse.

Public chats — GC, Discord, and the forums alike — have been alive with discussion regarding the updated quest item stats. Among the sentiments expressed:

  • “Are you kidding me, you made all the equipment require Dyallom Gall? Isn’t it already overused, not easy to find, and overpriced? It makes me feel like I’ve wasted my time to even attempt to solve this quest.”
  • “The issue is for the effort or cost of these, there are better options. MS gear is similar in cost but provides better stats… so why would anyone go through the quest process to produce gear weaker than other gear?”
  • “Dwarf champion armour is now good, elf spirit bow is good in general though a bit lackluster on jungle/arctic/desert. Master crafter chain is ok. A little worse than Moonshatter, but I think a little cheaper… The orc sword remains bad.”

Ah well. One cannot please everyone.

At the very least, the quest is finally complete after more than a decade, and perhaps Freyja may now turn her attention elsewhere.

A War That Almost Was

A massive war was quietly averted.

While many residents may be unaware, two of the largest alliances in the realm found themselves at odds over a city allegedly being “stolen.” Long-standing friendships fractured. The word war was not merely whispered — it was spoken plainly, more than once.

Leaders exchanged messages, with one excerpt (provided by an anonymous source, of course) stating:

“But frankly the length of this mail is already more attention than I think the situation deserves. This is entirely too much drama for a poorly researched town in the back of nowhere, even if it does have access to Iceheart.”

Though tensions have since cooled, the embers remain warm. Should these alliances clash, the ramifications would echo across the entire server — affecting even the humblest of scribes.

Rest assured, careful watch is being kept.

Mercenary Mindset: Thorfinn for Hire?

It appears Thorfinn’s services for tournaments are now openly for sale.

Per a recent forum post titled “One Simple Trick to Get Thorfinn in Your Alliance”:

“If you want me to join your tournament alliance for the next ‘special’ (any unique tournament / one which provides an actual reward) tournament then be the alliance which feeds my builds the most amount of res.”

An intriguing proposition.

Yet one must ask — what guarantees accompany such an offer? Resource-fed loyalty can be a profitable venture… but also a fleeting one.

Time will tell which alliance finds the arrangement worthwhile.

In Closing

I am attempting to secure a forum account of my own, so that whispers and tips may flow more freely. At present, very little reaches this platform in the way of secrets and scandal.

The realm is always buzzing.

But sometimes, the buzz fails to reach keen ears.

Should you wish it heard — you know what to do.

Until next time,

  1. Much technical points here but what it boils down to is that the Quest is still very much a live event, with the final chapter of the quest being what the stats and costs shake out to after the crafting update!

Estimated cost of the Champion armour is 1.3m for a 126% defence stat. Giving speed a half discount of 10% as it isn’t as important for defence, that’s 113%. Moonshatter Chain would similarly have a 115% defensive stat giving the night bonus half credit. The Chain costs about 1.4m going by the average Centrum price between buy and sell

The Master Crafted has a lower stat but with 1000 chain used it ends up more expensive – though the mineral price of the Champion armour may be more subject to inflation if demand spikes. Neither is a quest weapon at current stats

The bow was arguably a quest weapon at a 900k gold initial price but with herb prices zooming it’s now at 2m for the herbs. The effective attack bonus of the MS spear is about 120% at the 1.4m cost range vs the Spirit Bow’s 130% including speed value and counting the biome penalties at 1/3rd value. The spear on a 65 atk elite Knight adds 156 atk points vs the bow on a 32 atk Shot gaining 83 points. Still, there is no bow that currently compares to the Spirit bow for attack and price

The Marauder Sword may cost more than Master Crafted with the fire vs water salt and could be given a 104% atk rating with speed. And what a speed it is, on the slowest infantry! Trueshots with the bow can cover a 4x greater area than the Fist with the sword, with the bow’s 83 atk points vs the sword’s 75 points. The bow does cost more now if herb prices hold at 2k gold and up, but I think the sword’s initial stat is accurately rated by the quoted comment

Well worth noting that the stat update has been described as most importantly getting in the air salt on the Spirit bow to prevent meta altering production levels, while the final stats themselves are less settled
