Vol XVIII: – Of Audrey, Apparitions, and Allegations

Vol XVIII: – Of Audrey, Apparitions, and Allegations

Dated: 29 October 2025

Greetings, dear readers —

The world of Illyria never truly sleeps, does it? Even in silence, whispers hum beneath the surface — echoes of old mysteries and new curiosities. This week brings a peculiar mix of both: familiar names reappearing, unprompted mentions, and a spark of attention drawn once again to one of Illyria’s oldest enigmas.

The Audrey Enigma Returns

It seems this year’s Audrey attempt is no small affair. A coordinated push unlike any seen before, this November’s expedition carries whispers of unity — even between long-standing rivals.

According to the forum post here, efforts are well underway to unravel the ancient mystery of Audrey. The post outlines an intricate, collaborative experiment — a grand theory brought forth by players determined to “feed Audrey and solve this quest, finally.”

Thorfinn wrote:

“The temples and getting corrupted tentacles is not important, and we need players to send all units directly to Audrey. This is an experiment and we don’t know if it will work or not, but it is a very well thought out theory and plan, so I hope the community will help us feed Audrey and solve this quest, finally. We need as many players as possible to help with this huge chore. We can’t do it without all of you. Please help us.”

Whispers suggest that even the Chill/Laugh conflict — once the focus of so much heated discourse — may be cooling for the sake of a shared discovery. Whether this truce will hold remains to be seen, but the idea of Illyriad coming together for a common goal has certainly stirred the Global pot.

The Return of Danger Russ (?)

Just when things seemed peaceful, a familiar chaos resurfaced.

Reports from Global Chat indicate that Danger Russ, long since banned, may have slipped back into the fray — or at least, someone trying to. The usual rambling began: strange phrases, scattered logic, and a familiar rhythm that many veterans of GC recognized all too well.

And then — the telltale slip.

At 11:18 server time, the name “DR” was suddenly mentioned — a name that had not appeared once in chat that day, until this moment:

[11:17]<Elfsas> If his pop is below 25 he cant talk in GC. Do with that as you will, Illyrians
[11:17]<Tradgikititis> so much abuzzz there he always gitzzz the zzztzing speaking of ooh ghosts in the machine and yes spirits in the material world eh?
[11:17]<Tradgikititis> Gl with tthat lol
[11:18]<Tradgikititis> tha who? is DR anyway my goodness lol
[11:18]<Ashi> I think you are a fantastic and insightful character Tradgikititis – I think you should talk even more
[11:18]<Tradgikititis> wow what legend preceedeth

That lone “DR” mention was all it took for suspicion to spike — after all, Danger Russ had only ever been referred to as “Russ” in conversation prior.

A short while later, the situation escalated:

[11:22]<Willd Dwarff> Meh if the devs catch you and you are not supposed to be here, you won’t be here anymore.
[11:23]<Tradgikititis> don’t you think if that were true they would know it by now
[11:33]<Elfsas> if he stays long enough i will gladly raze the town
[11:33]<DarkQuest> as would most everyone in Illy, Elfsas, lol

And soon enough, justice was swift:

[12:32]<Willd Dwarff> oh yaay the Devs got him!
[12:32]<Fiona> Thanks JJ! Or Duran
[12:33]<GM Jejune> You’re welcome. Apologies that you all had to endure that for as long as you did. Of course, blocking is a beautiful thing also.

Well said.

The Demise of Minsu

Another mystery surfaced in GC:

[21:57]<Sheogorath> Did anyone see what happened to that guy?
[21:58]<Bazoon> DiL razed all of his towns in a few days.

This reporter can confirm that Minsu’s growth chart fell sharply beginning September 23rd, after a brief stretch of steady progress earlier that month. As of now, his account shows one remaining town — with a population of zero.

Whether this was a tactical strike, a provoked raze, or simple misfortune remains uncertain — but the data speaks volumes.

Naturally, speculation abounded:

[22:20]<Sheogorath> I expect a quilly report on the specifics of Minsu’s demise if you’re watching. Surely this “top reporter” of Illyriad can do it.
[23:10]<Willd Dwarff> It’s me. And there is nothing to report 🤷‍♀️
[23:13]<Megashnak> I heard the quilly author is Gilsus. He has such a way with words.
[23:15]<Willd Dwarff> Pffft
[23:16]<Megashnak> We shall see in the next quilly. Coming soon!
[23:17]<Willd Dwarff> Maybe it’s me…
[23:18]<Megashnak> Maybe, maybe not. Find out on the next edition of the Quill!

Ah, the eternal guessing game. Who is the voice behind The Quill?

Hmm… who indeed.

A Word of Thanks

Before we close — a special thank you to GM Jejune for taking the time to highlight The IllyQuill on the official Illyriad forums. Your acknowledgment means a great deal to both the Quill and its readers, and it’s an honor to see our little corner of whispers and wonder recognized among the broader community.

Here’s to the stories, the mysteries, and the players who keep this world alive — one whisper at a time.

Stay whispered, my friends.
